Experienced Regatta Volunteer?
If you’ve been involved in previous regattas, you may have a ‘preferred’ role you want to sign up for, whether that’s on the water, or shore-side. We need a sizable contingent for both and will be delighted to welcome you back this year. Go ahead and sign up for the role you’d like to fill, using the form at right.
New to Volunteering at Regattas?
Whether you have sailing or racing experience or not, there are many different roles to be filled to make each regatta a success. For example:
‘Landlubbers’ may enjoy welcoming our young sailors at our on-site check-in desk – for a three-hour shift on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Or you might like to work in the Club House helping to set up and serve the buffet-style breakfasts each day, or the post-race meal on Saturday afternoon. In each case, the food is ready to go and just needs organizing, set-up, serving.
If you love to be on the water, we always need folks to fill key roles on the race committee boats (these are the bigger keelboats used to start/finish the races). We always need a mix of experienced and new hands, as some roles can be done after a basic orientation on the boat. For the power boats used as ‘mark’ boats, a little more experience is required, as well as the strength required to raise and lower the ‘marks’ on the race course. Here again though, there’s a great opportunity to be paired with an experienced volunteer if you’re keen to learn.
